Temescal

The Temescal neighborhood is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Oakland and is named after the “sweat lodges” of the Ohlone Indians that used to populate the banks of the Temescal Creek.  Temescal is situated just above North Oakland and to the Southwest of Rockridge. In recent years, the area has become a hotbed of fine restaurants and shopping, and as a result home prices there have seen a resurgence. Temescal is also home to one of the City of Oakland’s eight art deco swimming pools.
