Oakland
The city of Oakland is the eighth largest city in the United States. Oakland is perched along the East side of San Francisco Bay, about 8 miles East of San Francisco. The Port of Oakland is the fourth busiest port in the U.S., behind Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Newark, NJ.
Oakland his home to 390,724 people according to the 2010 U.S. Census. It is a large and diverse city comprised primarily of residential homes. Oakland boasts homes in flatland areas, waterfront properties, hillside view homes, and even horse properties and ranches. Parts of Oakland are extremely urban (Temescal, Rockridge), while others areas are wooded and parklike (Montclair, Joaquin Miller).
Lake Merritt lies just East of downtown Oakland and is surrounded by homes, condominiums, and parkland, including Children’s Fairyland (reportedly Walt Disney’s inspiration for Disneyland).
All in all, Oakland is a beautiful city, and a great place to live.
