Rockridge

Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood is residential and commercial, chic, but also diverse. The area is situated east of Telegraph Avenue, South of Berkeley,  West of the Oakland Hills, and north of the 51^st Street and Broadway intersection. Rockridge and Upper Rockridge (a little further up the hill) is one of the wealthier neighborhoods in Oakland. Most of the houses here were built in the 1920s – 1950s, but some homes date back to 1909 or even earlier.

The inventory of homes for sale in Rockridge is generally small. That fact coupled with high homebuyer demand, results in Rockridge properties being some of the most coveted, and most expensive real estate in Oakland.

Rockridge is comprised of two parts: Lower Rockridge, and Upper Rockridge. In general, Upper Rockridge are homes above Broadway and North of Broadway Terrace while Lower Rockridge follows College Avenue, and is below Broadway.

Lower Rockridge is home to many restaurants, quaint shops, hipsters and tony watering holes. Homes in this area tend to be older than homes in the Upper Rockridge area, much of which was destroyed in the 1991 firestorm.

Because of the 1991 Firestorm, much of Upper Rockridge was rebuilt and homes there are generally newer, larger, and many feature stunning views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge.
